How accurate is the speed reading?
Velox uses your device's GPS for speed data. Accuracy depends on GPS signal quality and can be affected by tunnels, buildings, and weather. It is not a certified speedometer. Always use your vehicle's built-in speedometer as your primary reference.
Why does Velox need background location?
Background location keeps your trip active when you switch apps or lock your screen. Without it, trip recording would stop. A blue indicator appears in the status bar while active.
Does Velox collect my data?
No. All data is stored locally on your device. Velox has no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my trip data?
Long-press any trip card to delete it. To delete all data, uninstall the app. If you used iCloud Sync, manage synced data in iOS Settings > iCloud > Manage Storage.
What is Sensor Fusion (Beta)?
Sensor Fusion combines GPS with your device's accelerometer to provide faster speed updates. It is an optional feature disabled by default. Since it uses prediction algorithms, displayed speed may not always be perfectly accurate.
How does crash detection work?
When enabled, Velox monitors your device's motion sensors for severe impacts. If a potential crash is detected, it starts a 10-second countdown before automatically calling your emergency contact. You can cancel at any time. This is an experimental feature and should not be your sole emergency system.
How do I export my trips?
Long-press any trip card and choose Export. You can export in CSV or GPX format.
Does Velox work without internet?
Yes. Speed tracking, trip recording, and all core features work offline. Internet is only needed for weather data and map tiles.
